About the Artist
Having studied Jewellery and Metalwork at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee I graduated and then promptly moved to work in an accountancy firm. After six years of being sensible I took the leap and in December'16 set up my own workshop at Marcelle House in Studio 9. I have never looked backed. I create jewellery pieces primarily in silver, stones and enamels. I would love to show you around.
I am definitely a fidget when it comes to wearing jewellery myself, therefore I like to create pieces that have moving parts and can be played with. This can often mean that putting pieces together can be a bit tricky. Designs often change from concept to reality quite dramatically as I problem-solve my way through their creation!
I absolutely love working with enamels. The process of enamelling is fascinating and is something I will always wish to learn more about. It really is pretty magical watching the colours change as you bring a fired piece out of the kiln. They are also incredibly versatile and add an intensity of colour that stones cannot sometimes match (there is however no beating a gorgeous bit of bling)
I think I have been subconsciously building up a bank of things that inspire my work for a long time. I love deep blues and turquoise, the gaudy fabulousness of Faberge eggs, creepy trees, Filigree work, steampunk, stained glass windows, Romanov jewels, traction engines, buried treasure, leaf skeletons...all sorts!
I will be working in my studio and would really enjoy showing you around. You are very welcome. There will be tea, coffee and definitely cake!
DirectionsMarcelle House is located on Mars Hill, the same street as Alloa Town Hall. Plenty of free parking to rear of building. Please enter building by front door and ring the buzzer for Studio 9.
