About the Artist
We invite you join us for the 2017 exhibition. Graham, Darren and Charmian will be here again with new work, together with The West Moss-side Collective: Kate Sankey (weaver & twister), Jill Dow (printing & drawing), Gillie Welstead (jeweller) and new for this year Barbara Greenman (ceramics & paper ). The Centre, the kitchen & the farmhouse will be full of pieces to intrigue and enjoy.
The Collective is a group of artists working in a variety of media. We are Kate Sankey, Jill Dow, Gillie Welstead & joining for 2017, Barbara Greenman. Barbara works within the vernacular of book structures to create exquisite and fascinating pieces. This entails combining papers (often printed), clay slabs (pierced, printed, incised, often translucent, sometimes burnished) and various materials to bind this work together. You must see her work, we think it will resonate with the work of Charmian Pollok too. Jill is inspired by plants and wildlife observed through the changing seasons, in wild and untamed corners, in woodland, shore and garden. All natural environments fascinate her and to capture this beauty in detail she uses drawing, watercolour, photography and printmaking. Gillie is a silversmith and enameller who takes inspiration from nature to inform the texture and shape of her work. Kate Sankey is the founder of West Moss-side and delights in bringing the exhibition together. The materials used in her weaving are found in the fields and on the moss. A warm welcome awaits with light refreshments & home baking. You can explore the farm and yurts too. Why not stay?
