About the Artist

Flanders Moss is a very special site, it is one of the biggest and best bogs in Scotland and an easily accessible path allows visitors to experience the beauty of its wildlife and sample the peace of its unspoilt wilderness. For Open Studio week the boardwalk path has been turned into an outdoor gallery with works of art exhibited around the site. Why not drop in and explore.

Flanders Moss is a very special site, it is one of the biggest and best bogs in Scotland that for many years was completely inaccessible to visitors. Only in the last 10 years has an easily accessible path and boardwalk enabled people to visit the bog and experience the beauty of its wildlife and sample the peace of its unspoilt wilderness. It is a great place to escape hectic modern life. This special atmosphere, with a colourful tapestry of mosses and vibrant bird life has inspired many artists and photographers in recent years. The local school has also visited the reserve with artists to produce artworks on the wildlife. For Open Studio week the boardwalk path has been turned into an outdoor gallery with works of art exhibited around the site. Why not drop in to get to know this special site.

Additional Events

For both weekends of the Open Studio week Flanders Moss NNR wardens will be on- site to talk to visitors, explain aspects of the nature reserve and answer any questions.
