About the Artist
Welcome to my current working studio where you can see and smell the oil paint being applied to a whole range of paintings in the Leishman Soul genre. From Balinese-influenced work to Scottish burns and mountains and historically-imagined scenes wrought from my experience as Historic Environment Scotland artist in residence at Stirling Castle, my imagination takes me many places.
As Historic Environment Scotland's first artist in residence at Stirling Castle 2011-12, I then painted for the next four years in Stirling's ancient top of the town, first at Cowane's Hospital, then at the Tolbooth Arts Centre where from 2013-2015, I produced three bodies of work by invitation of HES for display in the Castle's Chapel Royal. Each yearly show marked historic events: 2013 the Battle of Flodden 500 years, 2014 Battle of Bannockburn 700 years and 2015 Marie de Guise 500 years. Throughout this period of time I have been facilitating creative workshops for self help expressive arts organisation Reachout with Arts in Mind in Alloa and working on commissioned paintings.
