About the Artist
Lesley Banks is artist- in - residence at Scottish Canals, a project funded by Creative Scotland and supported by Scottish Canals and Falkirk Community Trust. Her exhibition Gongoozler launches at the park gallery and reflects a journey along Scotland's 137 miles of canal from the perspective of the pedestrian on the towpath. The work represents a move out of the studio and interior world.
A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, and a Falkirk bairn Lesley Banks has had numerous solo exhibitions and many group exhibitions not only throughout Britain but also abroad. Lesley’s numerous public collections include Aberdeen Art Gallery, BBC Television, Lillie Art Gallery, and Goma, Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow. In addition, Lesley has received many awards including The Spectator, Adam & Company PLC 2nd and 3rd Prize, The Britannia Life Lord Provost Prize, and the Royal Glasgow Institute Scottish Amicable Award.
